Why do we use XML mapping in bundles and not PHP attributes like you're likely used to?

Using XML is faster than PHP attributes when Doctrine processes the mappings.

XML gives us the most flexibility for configuring things in bundles.

XML files are just easier to read than PHP attributes.

PHP attributes don't work at all with bundles, so we're stuck with XML.
