Hi!

Is a custom filter the right way to apply limits on a collection request? For example, I have a (vast) collection of Activities. On the homepage, let's say I want to display the last 8 added. How can I do that? The syntax with the "sprintf" is quite odd and I get many syntax errors:

`$queryBuilder->add('orderBy', sprintf('%s.createdAt DESC', $alias)) //That seems to be correct

        ->setFirstResult( 0 ) // That is just ignored

        ->setMaxResults( 8 ); // Also ignored

`

How should it be?

I'm still confused with API Platform and its Collection logic. Like I said, I have a lot of Activities and many occasions to display different samples of that list: sometimes the last 8, sometimes the 8 activities that has one or another specific property, but always with a limit, etc. A bit like Netflix: a huge collection of stuff that has to be filtered, limited and sorted on the different pages.

In order to do the same with my app, are the Custom Filters the Answer? Or how should I do that? Custom Controllers?

That's a good question. Perhaps creating your own filters it's the way to go here so you can customize as much as needed your query logic. This Github issue may be related to your problem https://github.com/api-plat...
