is this tutorial help to build restful api witth auth2?
When you say REST or RESTful, what do you mean? Do you mean a URL hierarchy which is organized in a logical manner? Do you mean Roy Fielding's definition?
...and this is where things get confusing. :) I like the term Hypermedia API to get…
Do I need before Symfony RESTful 5-pack courses first go with these two courses? https://knpuniversity.com/screencast/rest https://knpuniversity.com/screencast/rest-ep2
Hi SymfonyCasts,
I am trying to create an RESTful API endpoint by using the API Platform. We have some data which is not persisted inside a database (coming from ElasticSearch though an ItemDataProviderInterface), and some data from the database.
What we have currently and working…
Why did you change the name from "API Platform: Serious RESTful & GraphQL API" to "API Platform: Serious RESTful APIs"? :(
I was waiting for the GraphQL part the most.
Thank you very much victor
I started Symfony RESTful API course.
Hey Ryan! Do I need to finished "RESTful APIs in the Real World" courses first to start this course for Symfony? Does this courses closely connected?
Hi, I'm excited for the second part of the RESTful API tutorial.
If possible I want to know which is the more efficient or preferred way of implementing the api and web interface.. separate controllers or only one but be able to handle different…

What the REST?
When I talked recently about being collaborative and open,
I mentioned that I was weeks into research around building RESTful API's.
I've been like Luke training on Dagobah, except replace Jedi powers with
REST and Yoda with the Internet, RFCs and dozens of…
…s very not RESTful (the POST endpoint is supposed to be a singular endpoint, but in creating a single item and returning a single item), which is fine (you don't always need to follow the result), but as API Platform tries to be RESTful…
Hey @Yangzhi!
Are you using API Platform? Or just creating a RESTful endpoint on your own? Let me know, and I'll see if I can help :). Doing what you want can be less efficient on large collections but, in general, yea, it should be…
Hey @paralucia!
Ah, we didn't convince you to do the RESTful approach in this tutorial? Fair enough 😉
We'll talk about this in the next tutorial, but any solution is fine. I would personally probably prefer the Messenger integration first, and the custom…
…the "problem" (which I put in quotes because... ultimately, you can do whatever you want) is that this isn't really RESTful - you're attaching an extra key to your response that isn't actually related to the ApiResource. But, we CAN totally do this…
Thanks,
In the end, I compromised by going back to JWT but setting the token in an http-only cookie.
This gives me greater flexibility for the future, seems more secure and has the advantage of being a genuinely RESTful solution.
Hey Axel,
This course is all about OAuth2 and how to use it. If you're looking for restful API, you can take a look at other specific courses we have, see courses in this track: https://symfonycasts.com/tracks/rest . I suppose you would…
…customer_id={customer_id}` than the other one? Other projects could just follow that structure.
What I know about the first structure is that that's the standard structure of RESTful APIs, that might be the reason of your boss but you may want to…
Hi Victor, I need to start a new project with an API. If I plan to go with API Platform which tutorial should I follow here on SFcast ? Does the Symfony RESTful API: Course will help or it's unrelated ? Thx.
Hey Florian Klein!
You have great timing! I've been reading the new RESTful Web APis book (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920028468.do), which is really wonderful.
In there, he (meaning the 2 authors really) seems to have avoided this whole custom "verb" situation…
Isn't it a problem that making a GET request change the state of the website? I think this is not restful, and this allows a malicious user to trick someone into logging out just by having them click a link. Not a massive problem…
Hey Ganesh Lemoius
That's a great topic, you can find a lot of information, tricks, and useful tools, in our tutorials about RESTful API's https://knpuniversity.com/tracks/rest
Cheers!
